About BRKC

The club’s activities cover quite a few areas offering fanciers a multitude of ways to become involved.

Our new home for annual shows will be held in Gonzales, Louisiana. Learn more about the expanded Jambalaya cluster here.

Shortly after reorganization, AKC recognized BRKC for its activities, outreach, and dedication to the sport of dog showing by featuring our club in the AKCommunicates national newsletter.
BRKC members support and participate in several community organizations such as the Baton Rouge Police K-9 Corps, the annual CAAWS Mardi Gras Parade, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine’s Open House, and more. Outreach and education are a high priority.

Besides conformation showing, several members are active in lure coursing, obedience, agility, barn hunt, rally, dock diving, nose work, trick dog, and therapy. Not sure you’re ready for the ring? Members volunteer their time to mentor new exhibitors at handling classes. All told, our members have a wealth of knowledge and welcome assisting and mentoring newcomers.

The club holds monthly meetings and we typically gather for
dinner afterwards. Occasionally we host speakers presenting on subjects such as veterinary science, health, reproduction, law enforcement, and other canine-centric topics.

BRKC advocates for the humane treatment and protection of all dogs, actively seeks to educate the public about responsible ownership, and supports laws that protect the rights of dog owners.

Needless to say, we are having a great time and excited about the future! Join us!
